I've had a lot going on and found myself drawn back into wanting to pray, wanting to give all my problems over to a Deity to submit my will to a higher power and ultimately wanting there to be some greater purpose and reason for life's mysteries. Religion offers much, even if untrue. Somehow a spiritual experience is so inviting when you're going through a difficult time. It makes one ripe for the picking.

Thanks for sharing your life with us, HIS.D'Mahttp://www.gulliblestravelsdma.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2923191003698738067.post-68976219623777030832012-01-20T05:16:42.316-07:002012-01-20T05:16:42.316-07:00Thanks for reading DoOrDoNot! I do love hiking in the desert - there are few trees to block your view and you can see forever!

As to your question, I have often thought about it. If I had not converted then, would I have eventually found myself in the place I am now? Would I have turned my life around eventually? Would I have continued to be a rebel? Those are really good questions for me to pursue in the next exciting installment, so thanks for the idea! I may need a day or two to think about it. But my thoughts on it right now are that... I think I was doomed for a religious conversion. I know that by that time in my life, I was maturing emotionally. A lot of my friends were leaving the restaurant business and going on with their lives, and I was just stuck there year after year. I wantted something else, but I had no idea where else to look. All I knew about how to be a better person was my religious past, and that is where I eventually had to turn. Yes, religion is definitely very powerful.

Thanks again for reading!HeIsSailinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09154368305822276669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2923191003698738067.post-84335986944391332492012-01-19T21:53:30.898-07:002012-01-19T21:53:30.898-07:00What a pleasant surprise to finally see the face o...What a pleasant surprise to finally see the face of he-who-is-sailing! The landscape in the photo is beautiful. So, no more long hair and beard for you :)

It may be impossible to speculate, but I wonder, if religion hadn't crossed your path at that time, would you have still found something that would have turned you around? Does the power of religion lie in its ability to use ritual and myth to create new narratives for our lives in an instantaneous way?DoOrDoNothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15775977854913362396noreply@blogger.com
